Bio	Kohl Martin
		Raw Earth eXperience
Kohl Martin - tenor, alto, and soprano saxophones, clarinet, and auxillary percussion. Born and raised in the burbs of St. Louis, I have grown up around music my whole life. I started by playing piano and that was not for me. I picked up a guitar when I was about 10 and that didn't do it for me either. When I entered sixth grade, I found the tool to unleash my musical talent, the saxophone. I began playing the alto and then, in my sophomore year in high school, I started playing tenor in the school band. I was "classically" trained up until junior year.  I then explored myself and the instrument further. I had discovered jazz and blues. This made my sax sing as it was meant. I continued to play jazz for the remainder of high school and some in college. My dad (Ivan) suggested I play with him and his friends one night and I fell into the Raw Earth Experience. My biggest influences are the Charles Mingus Big Band and John Coltrane. The music we make may not sound like them, but style and flair I bring comes from these guys. Keep it Raw and Keep it Real!
