| Steve
Campbell - Bass, vocals and percussion - Began a dubious bass playing
career in the late 80s while an art student. His first band 'The 20th
Century Masters' in Sydney, NSW, Australia was a Talking Heads and The
Cure inspired original and cover band. He later moved to New Zealand
and formed the popular but horribly obscene "Fah Q" duo with Bill
Fitzgerald (now probably famous!), playing some covers and original but
terrible songs. Returning to Australia in the early 90s and Steve
joined the frighteningly professional "Acoustic Fire Works" with Peter
Biro and Darren Jackson (now definitely famous!), touring pubs and
clubs around Sydney for 2 years. In the late 90s he moved to London
where he built and played his own bass guitars to local pubs (without
recognition!). Returning to Australia he was briefly head of the
Art/Music Department in Greystanes High School in Western Sydney where
he almost totally avoided playing music. Steve Campbell now lives and
works in St Louis and his bass playing, while fundamental, hasn't lost
its original feel. He can be frequently heard hastily cobbling
together notes to compliment a bunch of very talented world
musicians in the band Raw Earth eXperience - a must see band!!! Adrian P. Cook (Music Critic) |
